The problem
The same Australian WooCommerce brand as the Chelsey Jean engagement, seen from the budget rather than from the account. $50 a day does not stretch across a full catalogue, a full country and a full funnel at once. Spread evenly it buys a little of everything and not enough of anything, which is what it had been doing.
The approach
Spend it where it converts and nowhere else. High value items only, locations narrowed to where the brand already had traffic, ages set to the customers it actually had, and the brand's own terms excluded so paid was not buying what search was giving away. Everything else was a test with a budget small enough to lose.
The work
Top of funnel campaign for reach, Search targeted to the strongest locations, phrase and broad keywords grouped by intent with a general and a branded negative list. Shopping across the catalogue with product meta and images rewritten, wholesale and sale items excluded, and a separate feed per category tested weekly so the structure followed the traffic. A branded responsive search ad on existing demand. Audiences segmented by source and by recency. A/B tests on headlines, descriptions, URLs, images and landing pages.
The result
Thirty days to 16 July 2024: $2.57K of spend returned $27.4K, a 1,065% return, at $9.04 per conversion. The account went on to hold a 10x weekly average with cost per acquisition down from $25 to $8.
